Terms of service
Last updated: 17 July 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and VanCAD for using this website (vancad.com) and the design app (app.vancad.com). VanCAD is a trading name of HJT Engineering Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 16640462), registered office 61 Bridge Street, Kington, HR5 3DJ, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using VanCAD you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service. They’re written in plain language on purpose.
Please read the Disclaimers section carefully - VanCAD helps you plan, but the measurements it produces are approximate and it is not a substitute for professional advice.
What VanCAD is
VanCAD is a browser-based tool for designing camper-van conversions in 3D: you place and arrange parametric components inside a van model and it gives you outputs like a bill of materials and a running weight total. It is a planning aid. Van and component dimensions are approximate and provided for design purposes only.
Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 13 years old to use VanCAD, and old enough to enter a contract where a subscription is involved. You can use the core design tools without an account. If you create one, you agree to give accurate information, to keep your password secure, and that you are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at hello@vancad.com if you think someone else is using it.
Your account is personal to you. It’s for one person - you may not share it with anyone else, and you may not sell, rent, or transfer it. A VanCAD Pro subscription is likewise for your own use, not for sharing access with others.
The free tier and session limits
The full design toolkit is free on the web. The free tier is limited in what you can keep, not in what you can do:
- Design sessions are time-limited. A guest (no account) gets 15 minutes; a free account (signed up, not subscribed) gets 30 minutes. When a session ends, your in-progress design is locked, and you can recover it by signing up or subscribing.
- Saving and loading designs to the cloud requires a VanCAD Pro subscription.
These limits are part of how the free product is offered; we may adjust them as the product evolves.
VanCAD Pro subscriptions
VanCAD Pro removes the session limit and unlocks saving, loading and cloud sync. Subscriptions are handled by our payment processor, Stripe.
- Plans and prices. Pro is offered on weekly, monthly and annual plans. The price and billing interval are shown clearly before you pay, in a currency chosen for your region. The price at checkout is the price that applies.
- Renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel. You authorise Stripe to charge your payment method for each renewal.
- Changing plans. You can switch between plans from the billing portal (see below); changes are prorated by Stripe.
- Purchases are made on the web. The mobile app is a viewer for designs you already have - you subscribe on the website, not inside the app.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time through the Stripe customer portal, reachable from Account → Manage subscription in the app. When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and then stops - your account reverts to the free tier and your saved designs remain associated with your account.
Subscriptions are non-refundable once they’ve started. VanCAD Pro gives you access straight away, so at checkout we ask you to confirm that you want it to start immediately and to acknowledge that, by doing so, you give up the usual 14-day “cooling-off” right to cancel for a refund. Once you’ve confirmed that and we’ve begun providing Pro, the current billing period is non-refundable - cancelling simply stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the period you’ve paid for ends. This is why we don’t offer partial refunds for a plan that’s already running (it matters most on the weekly plan, which is shorter than the cooling-off window).
Your statutory rights are unaffected. Nothing above removes rights you have under law that can’t be excluded - for example if VanCAD Pro is faulty or not as described. If you think something has gone wrong with a charge, email hello@vancad.com and we’ll look into it - we’d always rather put it right.
Your designs are yours
You keep all rights in the designs you create with VanCAD. We don’t claim ownership of them. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process and display your designs back to you so the service can work (for example, saving them to your account and syncing them across your devices). You can export your designs at any time.
You are responsible for the designs you create and for how you use them.
Acceptable use
Please use VanCAD lawfully and sensibly. You agree not to:
- use the service for anything illegal, or to infringe anyone’s rights;
- interfere with, disrupt, or try to gain unauthorised access to the service, other users’ accounts, or our infrastructure;
- abuse the service through automated means, or attempt to circumvent the free-tier limits, security controls, or rate limits;
- resell or commercially redistribute access to the service; or
- reverse engineer the software except to the extent the law expressly permits.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk.
Intellectual property
VanCAD - the app, this website, the component catalogue, and the VanCAD name and branding - is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property law, except where third-party open-source components are used under their own licences (listed on our Acknowledgements page). Vehicle manufacturer and model names are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify the vehicle you are designing for (see Disclaimers).
Disclaimers
Please read this section.
- Dimensions are approximate. Van and component measurements in VanCAD are approximate and are provided for planning only. Always verify measurements against your own vehicle and your own materials before you cut, build, or buy anything.
- Not professional advice. VanCAD is a design aid, not engineering, electrical, gas, structural or safety advice. Conversions involve real safety-critical work - especially electrical, gas and weight/loading. Consult qualified professionals and follow the relevant regulations before carrying out work. You are responsible for the safety and legality of what you build.
- Weight and bill-of-materials outputs are estimates based on the data in the catalogue and the choices you make; treat them as a guide, not a guarantee.
- Not affiliated with any manufacturer. VanCAD is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any van manufacturer or brand. Manufacturer and model names are used nominatively to identify real vehicles; we ship no manufacturer logos, badges, or official specifications.
- The service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, VanCAD is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss arising from your reliance on approximate dimensions or estimates, or from work carried out based on a design. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law - including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes
We may change the service and these terms as VanCAD develops. When we make a material change to these terms we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where the change is significant, tell account holders. Continuing to use VanCAD after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law gives you other rights.
