The van

The van decides what your conversion has to fit into: how long the floor is, where the wheel arches come through, how much headroom you have, and how much weight you can add before it is overloaded. Getting the right one, set up the way yours actually is, is the first thing to do in a design.

Every design starts from a base van. VanCAD models real vans parametrically rather than as fixed assets: a platform (the underlying vehicle) in a particular length and roof height, with its own shell, cab and wheelbase. The Van menu is where you choose that van and adjust it.

The shell is drawn in two layers - the outer bodywork and the inner ply lining - with the cavity between them carrying wiring and plumbing runs.
